Sue's Good News impresses


HOT SPRINGS, Ark. - Sue's Good News won her two-turn and stakes debut with authority Saturday at Oaklawn Park when she drew clear by five and a half lengths over Lady Mallory in the $75,000 .

It was another two and a half lengths back in third to Mekko Hokte.

Sue's Good News($4.60), who ran her record to 3-for-3 with the win, sat in third early in the one-mile race for 3-year-old fillies, overtook Youcan'ttakeme past the quarter pole, and went on to win over a fast track in 1:37.78.

Tim Doocy rode the winner for Cresran Stable and trainer Steve Hobby.

Hobby said he has not made next-race plans for Sue's Good News, but has nominated her to the Grade 3, $100,000 La Troienne at Churchill Downs on May 1. The filly is a half-sister to stakes winner Easyfromthegitgo.

The Instant Racing was one of two supporting stakes on the Grade 2, $500,000 Arkansas Derby undercard Saturday. The other, the $75,000 Northern Spur Breeders' Cup, was won by Mauk Four($21.80).
