Lady Shipman will draw in from the also-eligible list for the Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint.

Suedois sustained a stress fracture of a foreleg during a turf gallop Thursday and has been withdrawn from the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint.

The injury is not thought to be serious, and Joe Foley, racing manager for Suedois’s owners, said he expected Suedois to return to action in 2017.

Based in England with trainer David O’Meara, Suedois finished second in the Group 1 July Cup, his best performance of the season.

The Turf Sprint field overfilled, and Suedois’s defection would allow the first also-eligible, Lady Shipman, who was second in the 2015 Turf Sprint at Keeneland, to get into the race. But Lady Shipman is entered at Santa Anita in the Sen. Ken Maddy and her connections intend to run in that race rather than the Turf Sprint. That opens a spot for the second also-eligible, Green Mask, whose trainer, Brad Cox, said he will run in the Turf Sprint if he can.
