Stylelistick makes it 2 for 2

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Stylelistick posted her second win in as many starts this year when she closed with a flourish Friday to win the $112,100 Appalachian Stakes at Keeneland.

Ridden by Pat Day and trained by Bill Mott, Stylelistick paid $7 as second choice in the Appalachian, a one-mile turf race for 3-year-old fillies. Lush Soldier, a 14-1 shot, also closed well to finish second, 2 1/2 lengths behind Stylelistick and three-quarters of a length before front-running August Storm.

Stylelistick, owned by Team Valor and Dream With Me Stable, opened her 3-year-old season with an allowance victory at Gulfstream last month. Last year, she won twice from six starts, with her biggest win coming in the Green River Stakes at Keeneland.

Affirm Miss, the 2-1 favorite, had a good trip under Jerry Bailey but faded to seventh.

Earlier Friday, A New Twist ($2.60) posted an easy win in a second-level allowance. A 3-year-old filly by Storm Cat out of Twist Afleet, A New Twist won the Old Hat Stakes at Gulfstream in January for trainer John Kimmel, who also won a turf allowance with Affirmed Dancer ($9.80). Trainer Ken McPeek also won two races.

Attendance was 14,737.
