Strong entry in Lincoln Derby

The coupled entry of Bach's Homebrew and Bingosablumin should be a solid favorite in the $17,500 Lincoln Derby at Lincoln Race Course. The race features eight 3-year-olds going a mile.

Bach's Homebrew beat his stablemate by three-quarters of a length when they dominated a field of Nebraska-breds in the Lincoln Breeders' Special June 12 at a mile. The pair was sent off the 4-5 favorite that day for trainer Larry Staroscik and could go off at a similar price against open company here.

Bach's Homebrew is 3-1-1 in six starts this year and has made his last four starts in stakes. He dominated the six-furlong Journal Star Stakes here by 8 1/4 lengths May 29. His entrymate, also owned by Bluestem Farm, made him work for the win in the Breeders' Special as the pair drew off from the rest of the field through the final quarter-mile. Armando Martinez will again ride Bach's Homebrew, and Chris Fackler will ride Bingosablumin.

Trainer David Grimes will send out a coupled entry of Boxers or Briefs and Cat Ruler. Boxers or Briefs comes in off consecutive wins over maiden and entry-level allowance company at six furlongs. Cat Ruler won his maiden going a mile May 29, then was fourth against entry-level allowance company June 11.
