Striking Time goes for four in a row in Prairie Lilly

Email

Striking Time, who has been thoroughly dominant in 2-year-old races at Marquis Downs, will be looking for his fourth win in as many outings in Friday’s $25,000 Prairie Lily Sales Stakes.

The 6 1/2-furlong Prairie Lily, the feature on the penultimate weekend of the 30-day Marquis Downs meeting, attracted a field of seven who went through the local yearling sale, and Striking Time looms a prohibitive favorite.

Trained by Fern Zdunick, who ranks second in races won with 17 but is tops on the earnings front, has watched Striking Time win his three starts by a combined total of 26 1/2 lengths.

Last time out, in the six-furlong Western Heritage for Saskatchewan-bred 2-year-old males, Striking Time scored by 12 3/4 lengths under his regular rider, Neville Stephenson.

Tingle is coming off a second-place finish in the Woodland Heritage for 2-year-old fillies and again will have leading rider Naim Samaroo in the irons.

Bunny Business, who ended 1 3/4 lengths behind Tingle as the third-place finisher that day, won the filly division of the restricted six-furlong Gold Strike in her prior start.

J C’s Aciton tops Prairieland Park

J C’s Action, Saskatchewan’s top older horse, will see action Friday in the $7,500 Prairieland Park Handicap at 1 1/16 miles.

Trained by Zdunick, J C’s Action has won four of his five starts at the meeting, but prevailed by only a neck last time in the one-mile Lakeland Heritage.

The improving I’m Sue, second to J C’s Action that day, will be among his five opponents in the Prairieland.
