Street Sounds cruises home

Street Sounds essentially got paid for a one-mile workout at Pimlico on Saturday.

An overwhelming favorite after winning the Grade 2 Beaumont over Keeneland's Polytrack in her season's debut a month ago, Street Sounds ($2.40) coasted in a wire-to-wire win over five other 3-year-old fillies in the $80,000 Hilltop Stakes.

Sent to the lead from post 7 by jockey Ramon Dominguez, Street Sense was never seriously threatened while setting comfortable fractions of 23.99 seconds, 48.77, and 1:13.55 over Pimlico's turf course. She widened her advantage during the stretch, and after Dominguez took one glance back to make sure no one was gaining, Street Sound was hand-ridden to the wire for a 5o1/4-length victory, completing the distance in 1:36.66.

"That was very easy," Dominguez said. "She took me to the lead and I felt like she was going pretty quick early on but at the same time she was very relaxed. I was very happy with her."

Trained by Michael Matz for Hidden Creek Farm, Street Sounds is now 4 for 7 lifetime.
