Streak of Light stretches to a mile

Email

CALGARY, Alberta - Streak of Light, a game winner of a six-furlong sprint over $22,000 claimers on May 6, moves up a notch and stretches out to a mile in Friday's featured seventh race here at Stampede Park.

Owned by Cory Wagner and trained by Robertino Diodoro, Streak of Light drew the rail in the field of five.

Streak of Light, who runs his best races on or near the lead, will have to deal with the speedy Viscount Victor G, who drew posto2.

Catalone, second at this level in his latest, figures to get an ideal stalking trip just off the two pacesetters.

Cuddabinthewhiskey comes off two even efforts sprinting, and late closer Sacred Winds rounds out the field.

Braetta takes Pearson in slop

On Monday, Braetta improved her off-track record to 7 for 11 with an eight-length triumph in the $50,000 Ken Pearson Memorial.

Dan Boudreau, aboard for his first stakes victory on this circuit, had Braetta well back in the early stages of the one-mile handicap and swooped by the field with a powerful move through the final turn.

The morning-line favorite, She's Italian, was withdrawn at scratch time after a torrential downpour turned the course to slop.

* Last Saturday, Test Boy equaled the one-mile track record of 1:35.80, set by Roll On Briarctic in 1989, with a thrilling last-to-first move under Rickey Walcott in the $50,000 Teeworth Plate.
