Stormy Atlantic’s fee remains unchanged in 2014, Midnight Lute’s rises

Hill ‘n’ Dale Farms in Lexington, Ky. has released the 2014 fees for its stallion roster.

The farm’s flagship stallion, Stormy Atlantic, will remain at an advertised fee of $30,000 for the 2013 season. The 19-year-old son of Storm Cat is the sire of 12 crops of racing age, led in 2013 by runners including Grade 1 and Canadian classic winner Up With the Birds and Grade/Group 2 winners Barbecue Eddie and Wired Bryan.

Midnight Lute will stand for an increased fee in 2014, rising from $15,000 to $25,000. The 10-year-old Real Quiet horse, a champion sprinter during his racing career, saw his first crop of 3-year-olds run in 2013, highlighted by Queen’s Plate Stakes winner Midnight Aria, Grade 1 winner Midnight Lucky, Grade 2 winner Shakin It Up, Grade 3 winner Govenor Charlie, stakes winners Holy Lute and Roundupthelute, and classic-placed Mylute.

Standing for a reduced fee will be Roman Ruler, whose rate will decrease from $10,000 to $8,500. An 11-year-old son of Fusaichi Pegasus, Roman Ruler’s leading runners of 2013 include Grade 1 winner Artemis Agrotera, Argentine Group 2 winner Fragotero, and stakes winners Roman Invader, Srumdiddlyumptious, and Debouche.

Hill ‘n’ Dale will also offer Grade 1 winner Violence for his first season at stud for a fee of $15,000. The 3-year-old Medaglia d’Oro colt retired with three wins in four career starts for earnings of $623,000, highlighted by wins in the Grade 1 CashCall Futurity and the Grade 2 Nashua Stakes.

All other fees for returning Hill ‘n’ Dale stallions remain unchanged, with Zensational at $15,000, Concord Point at $7,500, Maclean’s Music at $6,500, and Misremembered at $5,000.
