Stormello out of Haskell due to colic

Stormello was scratched from Sunday's $1 million Haskell Invitational after developing colic.

The winner of the Grade 1 Hollywood Futurity last December, Stormello arrived at Monmouth Park from California late Friday afternoon and showed signs of distress later that evening.

He was vanned to the Midlantic Equine Clinic in Ringoes, N.J., for treatment.

Bill Currin, the colt's breeder, owner, and trainer, notified Monmouth officials Saturday that Stormello was over the worst of the colic and that he expected the horse to be released from the clinic next week. Currin plans to bring the horse back to Monmouth, and said Stormello is still under consideration for the King's Bishop at Saratoga on Aug. 25.
