Stonestreet retires Maclean's Music

Email

Stonestreet Stables has retired its homebred Maclean's Music because of complications from the removal of a fractured split bone, Stonestreet said Tuesday.

A 4-year-old Distorted Humor colt, Maclean's Music raced only once, winning his debut by 7 1/4 lengths in March 2011 at Santa Anita. That performance earned him a Beyer Speed Figure of 114, the highest ever for a debut winner.

Maclean's Music will stand at Hill 'n' Dale Farms in Lexington, Ky., for $6,500. He is out of the Grade 2 winner Forest Music, by Unbridled's Song and is her first stakes-winner.

A horse who ran one time is standing for more than Jackson Bend, a horse who actually did something in his racing career. Wow.
