Stonerside buys Too Much Bling

Too Much Bling, a 2-year-old Ohio-bred maiden winner at Thistledown, has been purchased by Stonerside Stable and transferred to trainer Bob Baffert at Saratoga.

Previously trained by Timothy Hamm for his family's Blazing Meadows Farm LLC, Too Much Bling won a 5 1/2-furlong maiden race at Thistledown on July 30 by 19 1/2 lengths. His final time of 1:03.82 earned him a 94 Beyer Speed Figure, the 11th highest by a 2-year-old this year. Too Much Bling, a roan son of 1992 sprint champion Rubiano, finished third in his career debut, the $40,000 Hoover Stakes at River Downs on July 17.

Hamm, 39, said Stonerside Stable purchased 80 percent of Too Much Bling and that his family retained a 20 percent interest.

"He galloped this morning and they liked what they saw," Hamm said Tuesday on his way back to Ohio from Saratoga. "They stabled him next to Roman Ruler. He's exceptionally fast, has a great mind, and natural ability. There was a lot of interest in him after his last race."
