Stakes on horizon for Por Que

EmailPor Que, a 2-year-old son of Whywhywhy who won his second straight race Sunday at Remington, could move into stakes company for his next start, said his trainer, Jack Bruner. He said the upcoming options for Por Que are the $100,000 Sugar Bowl at Fair Grounds on Dec.o22, or the $100,000 Riley Allison at Sunland Park on Dec. 30.

Por Que won a maiden special weight at Remington in his second start Oct. 21, covering 5 1/2 furlongs in a sharp 1:03.40. Sunday, he was a seven-length winner of a six-furlong optional claimer at Remington.

"I like that he came back in two weeks and duplicated what he did before with ease," said Bruner.

Por Que is out of the Seattle Slew mare Slew Smarts, and in the future figures to see two-turn action.

"He's a nice, big, growthy colt with some scope to him," Bruner said. "I think he's going to stretch out pretty well."

Por Que races for Tom Durant.
