Stablemates 1-2 in Blair's Cove

SHAKOPEE, Minn. - Owners Barry and Joni Butzow completed the exacta in the $50,0000 Blair's Cove Stakes when Sir Tricky edged Joni's Justice to finish first and second in the 1 1/16-mile race for Minnesota breds on the Canterbury Park turf Thursday evening.

Racing as an uncoupled entry, Sir Tricky was sent off the 5-2 second wagering choice in the field of 12. Racing along the inside to the backstretch under jockey Derek Bell, Sir Tricky switched outside his entrymate nearing the far turn. Jockey Dean Butler guided Joni's Justice to the rail after breaking from the 12 post and as the pair entered upper stretch.

Sir Tricky, bidding four wide in the lane, gained a narrow advantage from Joni's Justice and the pair came to the wire a necks apart, stopping the timer in 1:42.70 over firm going. C C Tat finished third, another half-length behind the top pair. Favored Wally's Choice failed to threaten following some traffic trouble on the second turn.

Sir Tricky ($7) is trained by Mac Robertson.
