Benefiting from a duel between the speedy Banjo Picker and Secretintelligence, Spooky Mulder stalked the pace and put in a persistent rally in late stretch, getting past Secretintelligence in the final strides for a head victory in the $55,000 Hockessin Stakes at Delaware Park. Banjo Picker was third, another 2 3/4 lengths behind Secretintelligence, who had a four-race win streak snapped in the six-furlong stakes for 3-year-olds and up. Lucky Memento was the trailer in the scratch-reduced field of four. Ridden by Abel Castellano Jr. and trained by Scott Lake, the 9-year-old Spooky Mulder ($4.40) won for the 31st time in his 76th career start. He covered the distance in 1:10.06 on a fast track.
