Spendthrift raises Malibu Moon fee to $70,000

B. Wayne Hughes’s Spendthrift Farm, which adds seven new stallions to its roster this year, has raised the fee for its signature stallion, Malibu Moon, from $60,000 to $70,000.

It is the only fee hike at Spendthrift, which also is lowering its price for Into Mischief from $8,500 to $7,500 in 2012.

Spendthrift’s new stallions include four in Kentucky, two for Ontario, and one in New York. Dual Grade 1 winner Tizway, who will have a $25,000 fee for his initial year at stud, leads the new Kentucky stallions, followed by Paddy O’Prado at $15,000, Archarcharch at $10,000, and Wilburn at $6,500. Spendthrift will stand first-year stallion Dublin at Keane Stud in New York for $7,500. At Ontario’s Park Stud, 2011 Breeders’ Cup Mile winner Court Vision will start his stud career with a $10,000 fee, and Victor’s Cry will stand for $5,000.

All other Spendthrift horses’ fees remain the same. They are Line of David $7,500; My Pal Charlie, who stands at Elite Thoroughbreds in Louisiana, $3,000; Notional, $7,500; Temple City, $5,000; Tiz Wonderful, $12,500; and Warrior’s Reward, $15,000.
