Spendthrift promotes Toothaker to stallion sales manager

B. Wayne Hughes’s Spendthrift Farm announced Wednesday that it has promoted Mark Toothaker to the position of stallion sales manager. Toothaker previously worked in other capacities as a member of the sales team at the Lexington, Ky., farm.

Toothaker, a native of Arkansas and a 25-year veteran in the Thoroughbred industry, will oversee sales for Spendthrift’s expanded 18-stallion roster in Kentucky, as well as for regional stallions standing in Louisiana, Maryland, New York, and Canada. Spendthrift acquired the breeding rights to Goldencents and Itsmyluckyday earlier this year, and the recent graded stakes winners will join the farm’s Kentucky roster in 2015.

“I really want to convey my gratitude to Wayne and all of the Spendthrift crew for their belief in me,” Toothaker said in a release. “To have dreamed as a kid to one day be involved in the Thoroughbred business in Kentucky, and now to be working for one of the biggest stallion farms in the world, is all very humbling.”
