Spaghetti Mouse wins Lieutenant Governors

VANCOUVER, British Columbia - An unpredictable Spaghetti Mouse had a perfect trip to win the Grade 3 $133,340 by a half-length over 6-5 favorite Quiet Cash at Hastings Saturday. With Dave Wilson aboard, Spaghetti Mouse looked very comfortable sitting fourth behind a moderate pace set by Bull Ranch and Tobe Suave before making a strong move to overtake Quiet Cash in the late stretch.

Trained by Gary Demorest, Spaghetti Mouse paid $37.50. It was his first win since he won the British Columbia Derby at odds of over 40-1 last September. He earned $$82,582 for his owners, Mr. and Mrs. Nick Felicella.

"We know he has the talent and it's just a matter if he can relax or not," said Demorest. "I think it helps that there's a longer run to the first turn when they go a mile and an eighth."

Quiet Cash broke sharply and stalked the pace before taking over the lead at the top of the stretch. He finished 3 1/4 lengths clear of Bull Ranch who held off a fast closing Shacane.

Final time for the 1 1/8 miles was 1:49.68 over a fast track.
