Welcome to Spa Babies! I'll break down the statistics for every juvenile contest at the meet.  Hopefully, we'll end up with a tidy profit. Thursday's results:Race 2:  Water of Life finished seventhRace 3:  Smart Seattle finished secondRace 5:  Strike It Rich finished sixthRace 7:  In Te Domine scratched; second choice Raise the Kitty finished sixth Friday, September 4, 2009 Race 31 1/16 Miles (Turf)With Anticipation Stakes (Grade 3)2-year-oldsPurse $100,000 Analysis:John Velazquez is named on both halves of the Wesley Ward-trained entry so one will scratch.  If Royal Ascot winner STRIKE THE TIGER makes the grade, he gets a tepid nod.  He returned to the United States none the worse for wear as he improved his undefeated record to 3-3 with a gate-to-wire win in the Chenery Stakes at Colonial Downs.  He'll get a big test in the With Anticipation as he must overcome the far outside post while stretching out around two turns for the first time in his career.  The sire is a half-brother to A.P. Indy and a three-quarter sibling to Summer Squall so there is some stamina up top, but the bottom half of the pedigree is mostly sprint-oriented.  He's a bit of a risky play in this very tough graded stake.JUNG MAN SCOTT ran a hole in the wind against New York-bred maidens in his turf debut, and he is out of a dam that was a solid miler.  He hails from excellent conections, and could be the speed of the speed stretching out for the first time in his career.RED RALLY got it done at 4-1 odds as a Spa Baby selection on dirt, but couldn't reel in Strike the Tiger at Colonial Downs on turf.  He has good tactical speed, and may find himself in the second flight behind a solid pace.  As a half-brother to Woodward winner Premium Tap, he is bred to handle this added distance.TWO NOTCH ROAD pulled off a 107-1 shocker when winning his maiden in the Continental Mile at Monmouth, but he couldn't have received a better trip under Shannon Uske as the pair tracked a pace duel while all by themselves in third before shooting up a big opening on the inside turning for home.  Two Notch Road obviously likes the turf, but we'll find out more about his true quality here. MISSISSIPPI HIPPIE failed to stay as the favorite in the Continental Mile, but he was used up dueling with a 19-1 shot that eventually faltered to finish next-to-last.  He draws inside, and can be a pace factor if he's the Ward entry that runs.  DEAN'S KITTEN pulled off a gate-to-wire win over PADDY O'PRADO when allowed to stretch his legs around two turns.  He may have to rate in this spot with some stretchout speeds entered.  PADDY O'PRADO may have been best in that race when stopped for a bit at the quarter-pole.  He rallied nicely for the place, but is still a maiden facing winners.  The pace scenario should work to his advantage.   ZAPSTER chased quick splits before tiring late in first route start.  The well-bred gray is still a maiden for Todd Pletcher.  GOLLY DAY looked good steamrolling New York-breds in his career debut, but will need a Beyer boost to threaten these.  QUICK MONEY disappointed terribly at 11-10 odds in his career debut four days ago, and would be in steep if he tries this spot.  INTERACTIF has a strong turf pedgiree, and was used up chasing a fast pace in the Grade 2 Sanford.  Expect him to appreciate changing up surfaces for Pletcher.  TURF MELODY's only win came at 1-5 at Colonial Downs, but the $200,000 yearling should run well if this race is rained off the grass.  AIKENITE looked good winning first out for Todd Pletcher, and factors on dirt. TOO CRITICAL's sire does well with firsters, and the dam is a half-sister to the classy Critical Eye, the winner of both the Grade 1 Hempstead and Gazelle with matching 104 Beyer Speed Figures.  These workouts look very interesting, and Too Critical may threaten at solid odds.  AUSTRALIS PRINCESS has shown good early speed on occasion, but she blew a clear lead last time out when it looked like she was home free.  She figures to be up and on the pace once again, and should appreciate turning back a whole furlong.  MUSICSETSMEFREE has had problems getting out of the gate in both lifetime starts.  In her debut at Belmont, the daughter of Dixieland Band bobbled after breaking very quickly, then ran a good one for a half-mile before tiring late.  She didn't break well again in her Spa debut as the chalk, and is now mired in the sometimes-intimidating inside post position.  POSITIVE PITCH ran evenly in her debut after chasing very fast fractions, and came back to work swiftly over the training track.  She wouldn't be a surprise with normal second-out improvement.  PRECIOUS PENNY raced wide in her debut, but may want a bit more ground to work with.  IRON PENNY goes out for barn that is way overdue with firsters, but has sent out some live experienced juveniles at the meet.  The workouts look okay.  SELENAS SO MAD cracked the exacta at Finger Lakes, but these may be a bit tougher.  BY M K makes debut for barn that has been heating up of late, but the workouts fail to entice.  DUGOUT DEPUTY is part of the Hernandez-trained entry (only one may start), but she's faltered badly in both sprint outings.  BERNIE'S PAL and PLAYGIRLS RHAPSODY are firsters by the quick sprinter Hook and Ladder.  The former shows some gaps in the tab, but her trainer is on fire while Playgirls Rhapsody has been working steadily since late June for a cold outfit.  LOVELY LIL can't be discounted as she boasts a strong pedigree and excellent connections. CUVEE'S LADY boasts an interesting pedigree with speed on the top, and class on the bottom.  As with her entrymate, she has been working quite nicely for her debut.  ADRIATIC MAGIC never got involved in debut on the main track, but she draws a cozy inside post position, and is bred for turf on the bottom of the bloodlines. She's eligible to improve with a race under her belt.  GITCHEE GOOMEE shows quick works for Rice, and is bred for turf.  Not sure I want to take a firster going long at a short price, however (5-2 odds on the morning line).  I DO THAT was wisely scratched out of a stakes race yesterday to await this maiden spot, but she draws a tough outside post, and the workouts only look fair.  PEARL RIVER has a strong turf pedigree being a half to Incurable Optimist, and Christophe Clement is an absolute wizard on the grass. NURSE DOLCE adds Lasix for barn that has good numbers second-time out.  INVASIVE makes the two sprints to a route move, but the pedigree is mostly geared to sprint races.  HEAR HER ROAR and LOYAL SHADOW must improve significantly on turf.
