Analysis:  EIRE'S RUN received an education in his debut run at Belmont on June 12.  The gelding was steadied hard on the rail a few strides out of the gate, and then didn't seem comfortable being hemmed in on the fence.  John Velazquez angled him three wide on the turn, and Eire's Run finished evenly for third.  He draws outside here, and may work out a stalk-and-pounce journey stretching out to six furlongs.
MOST HAPPY FELLA earned a big Beyer Speed Figure for his debut at Belmont.  He broke very well, but was outsprinted to track the pace while down on the rail.  He may assume the role of pacesetter in this spot, and looms the one to beat at expected short odds.
JUNALUSKA was sandwiched at the start of his Belmont debut before being steadied going into the turn.  He finished evenly along the inside that day, and may have been compromised by another slow start coupled with a speed-favoring track when the beaten favorite at Finger Lakes on July 6.  The addition of blinkers may help get him out of the gate quicker.
ELSAROARING broke very quickly in his debut at Churchill Downs, but seemed intimidated by another rival while four wide entering the turn, and soon dropped back to midpack.  He re-rallied for third in that spot, and should go well for excellent barn in second start of the form cycle.
IBBOYEE is a firster for Pletcher that sold for 24 times the stud fee of first-crop sire Medallist.  John Velazquez opts for the top selection, however. WISE STOP finished behind Eire's Run and Junaluska in the career debut, but improved when switched to the grass.  He may go better on the weeds down the road.  SILENCED's works give out mixed feelings.  PORCELLO is from a strong New York-bred family, and the $240,000 purchase may be the most likely of the firsters to get the money.  TREASURE TRUNK and SHOTGUN BANDIT both go out for solid, underrated barns.  Early tote action may tell their story.

Selections:  1.  Eire's Run  2.  Most Happy Fella  3.  Junaluska

The Play:  Eire's Run to Win at 7-2 odds or greater

Analysis:  DROVER, a half-brother to two-time Eclipse Award champion Ashado, makes career debut for the always-dangerous first-out combination of Todd Pletcher and John Velazquez.  Drover is also kin to three turf winners, and the dam won her only turf start.
KING KITTEN showed good speed in his career debut on dirt, and is expected to improve as his sire, Kitten's Joy, was a killer on the turf.  Trainer Wesley Ward excels with young horses as evidenced with his international success on turf at Royal Ascot earlier this season.
BRIDGETOWN is a half-brother to the swift sprinter CARNACKS CHOICE, and he ran on well in his career debut on the grass.  Experience counts in these kind of races, and Bridgetown's prior grass run should come in handy.
OVERLAP is kin to Kimberlite Pipe, a solid Grade 3 type that banked over 950K.  Overlap worked quickly prior to selling for $75,000 earlier this year.
STEVE'S KITTEN never quit in his career debut on turf at Ellis Park, but will likely need a Beyer boost to contend for top honors here.  EL COMMODORE boasts a strong pedigree, and he showed good speed in his debut.  He switches to Bill Mott's main rider, Kent Desormeaux, and should be heard from early at the very least.  PENDULUM has grass on the bottom of the pedigree, and was legged up over the Tapeta surface at Presque Isle Downs for underrated and excellent trainer. ALWAYS MINE may want a bit more ground.  Some of WOW WOW WOW's early workouts match up with Silenced, a juvenile entered by Mr. Lukas in today's second race, but Wow Wow Wow doesn't show a published move in the last 19 days.  SATUM is a half-sister to the wonderful mare Hystericalady, but one must be mindful of the 15-day gap between the last two workouts.  IN JUST WE TRUST and FAYOUM can contend if this race is washed off the main track.

Selections:  1.  Drover  2.  King Kitten  3.  Bridgetown

Analysis:  BEAUTIFUL SONG hopes to become the first winner for a turf-bred dam that cost $1.2M as a weanling.  Trained by Rusty Arnold, Beautiful Song didn't do much in her career debut going short in the slop, but her pedigree deserves a shot on the lawn.
CRYSTAL OCEAN is a half-sister to Khumba Mela, a solid Grade 3 winner on grass, and she draws a cozy inside post considering the short run into the first turn.  She shows a pair of recent five-furlong workouts for Bill Mott, and her sire, Stormy Atlantic, is excellent with turf performers.
LISA'S KITTEN didn't have the easiest of trips in her debut, and should appreciate stretching out in distance for Mike Maker.  She draws a tough outside post, but can be forwardly-placed with an alert getaway from the starting gate.
PRETTY B outfinished Lisa's Kitten at Belmont, and trainer Stanley Hough sent out a second-out juvenile winner here on Sunday.
MORE AMOUR adds Lasix for her second career start, and that's a potent angle in maiden races.  Her recent workouts look good, and she can factor if she draws in from the also-eligible list.  DAD'S CRAZY finished behind both Pretty B and Lisa's Kitten at Belmont, but she may have been a bit short for that start.  Expect a better showing today.  MAUX MONEY is by a young sire that absolutely loved the lawn, and more distance may be just what the doctor ordered.  CLASSIC AFFAIR has a strong pedigree, but must draw in from the also-eligible list, and John Velazquez opts for her entrymate.  MS. THANKSGIVING showed speed going two turns at Ellis Park, but stamina has been the issue thus far.  She may have to go faster in the early stages here.  ZILVA made up late ground over the Tapeta track at Presque Isle downs, and picks up Belmont Park's leading rider Ramon Dominguez.  CIRCLEBOUNDBAY may benefit from a race.  TAPITSFLY finished well ahead of Beautiful Song on dirt, draws a cozy inside post, and shows a strong turf workout.  STRAIGHT A STUDENT is bred more for speed on the top of her pedigree.  She looms a pace factor.  C. C. COCO, LEOPARD ROCK, and RENDITION should all be considered if this race is taken off the grass.

Selections:  1.  Beautiful Song  2.  Crystal Ocean  3.  Lisa's Kitten

The Play:  Beautiful Song to Win and Place at 8-1 odds or greater (turf only)

Meet record based on starts, wins, top pick (after scratches) in the money, and profit/loss of that day's play ($2 wager):   9-2-5 (- $16.70)
