Analysis:  TOUCHING BEAUTY shows some interesting five-furlong workouts leading up to her career debut, and trainer Jimmy Jerkens has already sent out juvenile debut winner Sugar Trade at this meet.  A $235,000 juvenile purchase by Tapit, Touching Beauty is out of a mare that won second-time out at two by almost nine lengths before taking the La Senorita Stakes that season at one mile at Retama Park.
SOUMA is bred both sides for speed, and the $250,000 purchase makes her debut for Nick Zito, a trainer that historically does well with young horses at the Spa.
MARABELLE has the experience edge over many of her rivals, and she took a good deal of money for her career debut at Monmouth.  She finished second with an even run through the stretch, and wouldn't be a surprise under Ramon Dominguez.
HIDDEN VALUE's "good-bad-good-bad" pattern has her seemingly primed for a "good" effort.  She has early speed, and looms a pace factor at the very least.
CAPITALISM AT RISK makes career debut for underrated, but excellent first-out barn, but the workouts only give mixed emotions.  BONITA DONITA boasts a solid pedigree, but I wonder if the daughter of Kentucky Derby hero Fusaichi Pegasus wants a bit more ground than this 5 1/2 furlong distance.  CHRISTMAS TRIP's sire does very well with firsters, but the solid trainer Stanley Hough is still looking for his first debut winner of 2009.  MAMBO FEVER shows an 18-day gap between the last two published drills.

NOTABLE WORKOUT INFORMATION:  July 23 workout went .02 slower than barn's three-year-old ANDHAAR (finished second on turf in maiden special weight at Monmouth on August 15 with ?? Beyer)

Analysis:  ONE NOTE SAMBA attempted to rally over a speed-favoring track when unveiled by Todd Pletcher on Opening Day, and he faltered in the final eighth of a mile after making a solid move to split rivals on the far turn.  He wheels back on rather sharp notice, and should improve with that experience under his girth.
MUSIC NOTE is a half to a couple of precocious runners, and the Read the Footnotes colt worked in 10 flat before selling for almost 11 times the stud fee in April.  He continues to work quickly for George Weaver, and may have some gate speed.
JUNALUSKA improved a bit racing with blinkers for the first time, runs back rather quickly on only 13 days rest, and may get a piece of this at a price.
JIM'S APPLEMARTINI is by the popular and venerable sprinter Say Florida Sandy, and shows a string of five-furlong workouts for Bruce Levine.  He looks somewhat interesting with Ramon Dominguez named to ride.
MINESWEPT finished four lengths behind One Note Samba on Opening Day, but has reason to improve as excellent second-out barn adds Lasix for the first time.  COMMON CURRENCY's excellent trainer, Kiaran McLaughlin, sent out a good-looking debut winner here yesterday afternoon, and his Common Currency topped the "Preferred" portion of the Saratoga yearling sale in 2008.  He has a really precocious pedigree, and wouldn't be a surprise.  SILENCED must improve off dull debut try when four lengths behind Janaluska.  BADGERS ships up from Philadelphia Park for barn that shows fantastic numbers when adding Lasix to second-time juveniles.  JOHANNESBURG SMILE and FOURSEVENTEEN go out for barn that often does its best work at the Spa.

NOTABLE WORKOUT INFORMATION:  July 7 workout went .01 slower than barn's three-year-old MONTE CARLO (finished sixth in 'n2x' optional claimer at Belmont on July 17 with 71 Beyer)

Analysis:  ONE SKY should be legged up with eight straight five-furlong workouts on display, and he shows an interesting turf drill at Aqueduct for high-percentage connections.  He should go off a solid price in a contentious field, and Richard Dutrow Jr. sent out juvenile first-turf winner Jung Man Scott earlier in the meet.
CHAIRMAN NOW has plenty of grass on the bottom of his bloodlines, and he raced evenly after a poor beginning in his career debut.  By two-time Breeders' Cup Classic hero Tiznow, he should relish today's additional distance.
STEVE'S KITTEN  is bred for long distances, but he re-rallied for the place in career debut going 5 1/2 furlongs at Ellis Park.  Expect improvement from this Wesley Ward-trained son of Kitten's Joy.
EPICURUS is a Pletcher/Velazquez project with some turf breeding, but the workouts fail to excite.
DROSSELMEYER should save valuable ground after breaking from the inside post, and trainer Bill Mott is an absolute guru with turf horses.  THE PELOTON catches a tough bunch for his career debut.  TRIPPO finished behind Chairman Now on dirt, but was mired down on the rail for that dirt sprint attempt.  It wouldn't be a surprise if SEATTLE MISSION can run a little bit.  His trainer, Barclay Tagg, is on fire at the meet, and his workmate, Overlap, won the debut try in an off-the-turf race earlier at the stand.  GRAYSONIA must avoid a wide trip from the far outside post.  ANTENNA, HIGHVELDT STORM, and FOREVER AWESOME boast strong connections, and would all likely contend if this race is rained to the main track.

Selections:  1.  One Sky  2.  Chairman Now  3.  Steve's Kitten

The Play:
One Sky to Win and Place at 6-1 odds or higher

Meet record based on starts, wins, top pick (after scratches) in the money, and profit/loss of that day's play ($2 wager): 27-4-12 (-$8.10)
