Analysis:  AWESOME MARIA is the first foal out of an unraced half-sister to the brilliant Discreet Cat, and the July 26 workout matches up with Gold Trippi, the older winner of yesterday's James Marvin Stakes.  Stanley Hough does good work with juvenile debut runners, and Awesome Maria may offer some value here.
THE UNDERLING was no match for Schuylerville runner-up Beautician in her career debut at Churchill Downs, but that race came back fast, and The Underling finished ahead of a next-out winner in the process.  She must draw in from the also-eligible list, but should give a good account of herself if she gets to play.
ROMAN CHESTNUT will go off at a huge price as she debuts for low-profile connections, but she's closely inbred to the quality sire Silver Deputy.
Bill Mott sent out second-time starter Come From Behind to win the first baby race of the meet, and he'll attempt to repeat the pattern with ATREA, a filly with a solid female family.
HIDDEN VALUE has good early speed, but she was lugging in during the stretch drive of her most recent start at Churchill Downs, and will have to go a sixteenth more today.  KINSEY finished behind Hidden Value at Churchill Downs, and will obviously have to improve off that performance here.  SIMPLY SPITEFUL worked quickly prior to selling for $110,000 at auction, and this barn does very well with debut runners. CAPE COD CARRIE is by a sire that is still seeking his first debut winner.  CELESTIAL SWEEP may want a bit more ground to play with. GO FOR JAN took lots of money for her career debut, then proceeded to disappoint greatly.  She is expected to improve in this spot.  AILALEA goes out for top connections, but the worktab fails to excite.  SNAP HAPPY makes debut for barn that often improves them second-time out.  SALAAM ALAYKUM shows a fast recent work, but is mired down on the rail.

Analysis:  BULLS AND BEARS gave a professional account of himself in his debut effort at Belmont, spliting rivals to score by a neck in a quick heat.  That race has already produced a next-out winner in Insightful (76 Beyer).  Bulls and Bears should find himself in a good stalking position in the Sanford, and may be poised to pounce on the turn.
ACTIVITY REPORT steps up off a maiden claiming victory at Churchill Downs, but two horses came out of that heat to win their maidens at Ellis Park, and Activity Report was privately-purchased from owner/trainer Cody Autrey following the score.  Now with Wayne Lukas, Activity Report tries the deep end of the pool, but seems to have quality early speed.
ENUMERATE blasted off to a well-meant debut score at Churchill for the powerful Steven Asmussen barn.  He overcame the rail in Kentucky, but will have to hustle to escape an early shuffle as he stretches out to six furlongs.
BACKTALK stamped himself as the leading two-year-old in the Midwest after taking the Bashford Manor as the 4-5 favorite despite suffering through a troubled trip.  He should benefit from a solid pace up front.
LOUISVILLELUMINARY also goes out for Asmussen, and the well-bred colt can improve off his maiden win at Churchill Downs.  SOUNDMAN faltered in the Bashford Manor when beaten 4 1/2 lengths by Backtalk.  He may be the speed of the speed, but there are some stamina issues to address.  NACHO FRIEND dominated six others over sloppy going at Monmouth for an excellent barn, but needs a Beyer boost to handle these.  INTERACTIF lasted over weaker maidens at Monmouth, but it's hard to discount any Todd Pletcher-trained juvenile, and this one will be a price.  BRICKLAYER disappointed as the chalk over Woodbine's polytrack, but may appreciate returning to dirt.

Selections:  1.  Bulls and Bears  2.  Activity Report  3.  Enumerate
