Two-time Eclipse Award champion Songbird has been confirmed in foal to fellow champion and first-year stallion Arrogate. It would be the first foal for the Medaglia d'Oro mare. The news was reported by Timber Town Farm, which boards Songbird in Lexington, Ky., for owner Mandy Pope, who purchased the mare for $9.5 million at last November's Fasig-Tipton Kentucky fall selected mixed sale. The price was the second-highest ever at a North American public auction for a broodmare prospect. :: Get breeding & sales news, Beyer info, and more delivered right to your email! Songbird was covered by Arrogate, who stands at Juddmonte Farm in Lexington, on Feb. 27. The son of Unbridled's Song is standing for an advertised fee of $75,000, the highest for an incoming Kentucky stallion of 2018. Songbird, who raced for Rick Porter's Fox Hill Farm, earned Eclipse Awards as champion 2-year-old filly of 2015 and 3-year-old filly of 2016, winning 13 of 15 career starts. Her two runner-up efforts both came against fellow champions – to four-time Eclipse champion Beholder in the 2016 Breeders’ Cup Distaff and to subsequent Breeders’ Cup Distaff winner Forever Unbridled in the Grade 1 Personal Ensign Stakes.
