Somethinaboutlaura much the best

There were no surprises as Somethinaboutlaura ($2.40) galloped to a 4 1/4-length victory in the $60,125 Foster City Handicap at Bay Meadows.

"It was pretty much a foregone conclusion if she came at all," winning jockey Russell Baze said.

Somethinaboutlaura, who had lost her past two starts, came with her "A" game. She and Gins Majesty ran one-two the whole way, and Somethinaboutlaura won in 1:34.93.

It took Somethinaboutlaura a few strides to get going, but she made the front and rated easily for Baze.

"She got away a half step slow, but she made it up right away," winning trainer Jerry Hollendorfer said from Santa Anita. "I wanted her on the front end."

The 5-year-old Somethinaboutlaura is now 5 for 5 on the main track at Bay Meadows, and she also won her lone turf start here.

Somethinaboutlaura, purchased privately for $375,000 after her Foster City victory last year, earned $36,500 with her 11th victory in 22 starts. Her career earnings are $622,270 with $447,440 coming for current owners Charles Miller, John Sikura, George Todaro and Hollendorfer.
