Jockey Alex Solis has two mounts Friday at Los Alamitos.

Jockey Alex Solis’s next winner will be the 5,000th of his career in North America. He has two chances on Friday’s program at Los Alamitos – Autumn Flower in the fourth race and Keezheekoni in the eighth.

Solis has not ridden in Southern California since Nov. 30. He spent last weekend riding in Venezuela before traveling to Panama this week to visit family.

Solis’s most recent win in North America was on Synnin at Del Mar on Nov. 28. He is ready for the milestone.

“It makes you look back on all the things you have accomplished in your career,” he said last week.

Solis, 50, was elected to the racing Hall of Fame this year. A native of Panama, Solis has ridden much of his career in Southern California. He rode on the East Coast for five years before returning to California this year.

Pure classy guy who I was fortunate to meet at Woodbine (which is outside of CA and also where he won races as well as FLA). All the best Alex- God bless you!

How can anyone bash a rider with 5,000 wins. That shows the lack of intelligence and class of Frank and anyone else that would badmouth those accomplishments!!!

This is gambling pal. I don't care how many wins he has. Solis is not a money rider -- he cost me money that year in triple crown series and I was betting the right horse - Victory Gallop. Now Stevens is a money rider and he paid my back in the Belmont. Solis is a CA rider that can only win there -- Look at his stats. I like money riders - Bailey, Stevens, McCarron, Delahoussaye, Gomez, Castanllano, Pincay, etc. Those guys can win on good horses on any circuit.

The only reason he won the Belmont is Kent moved too soon on Real Quiet.FRANKly sounds like sour grapes to me.

Pure CA rider only -- cant win outside of CA. I remember 1998 triple crown series aboard Victory Gallop. He should of been the Derby winner -- Solis rode him horribly. The best move was when they took him off and put Stevens on him in the Belmont - we all know what happened then.

I'd tell you how stupid you are, but you already showed everybody.

You make no sense. Everyone knows that Real Quiet should have won the Belmont for one thing. And your reference to Ca riders? Some of the best riders in the world are based in Ca... Solis is one of them.
