Social Queen stormed home from last in a seven-horse field to win the $60,000 Staybridge Suites of Eatontown Stakes for 3-year-old fillies on the turf at Monmouth Park. Social Queen ($7.40) edged 3-2 favorite My Golden Quest by a neck with Limoncella third. The time was 1:42.73 for the 1 1/16 miles on the firm course. Jockey Chuck Lopez showed great patience, letting the race unfold despite a moderate pace. "I wanted to go out there and let her do what she wanted to do," Lopez said. "I knew the pace was slow, but I kept her within five or six lengths the whole time. "Turning for home, I swung her out and she went about her business. I just felt that she was better than them. She's a real nice filly." It was the stakes debut for Social Queen and her second straight victory since trainer Alan Goldberg put her on grass. Overall, the filly is 3 for 8, leaving Goldberg second-guessing himself for not making the surface switch sooner. "I should have put her on the turf earlier since she is by Dynaformer," Goldberg said.
