In the Slips joining Mullins's stable

Trainer Jeff Mullins's stable will soon be home to a sharp European filly, In the Slips, who was among the 17 horses pre-entered Monday in the $1 million Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf. In the Slips is one of just four in the Juvenile Filly Turf who has won multiple races on grass, and one of six who has won a stakes on the surface. She is to arrive Stateside Tuesday after being purchased privately by Michael House off back-to-back wins in England.

"He's always in the market for a good filly," Mullins said, "and there was the possibility that she could run in the Breeders' Cup. So, that was a plus."

Mullins said Garrett Gomez will ride In the Slips if she gets into the one-mile Juvenile Fillies Turf. In the Slips needs three defections to draw into the body of the field, which will be limited to 12 starters when it is run Nov. 6.

In the Slips has won handicaps for trainer Paul Cole in her last two outs, taking the EBF Carrie Red Nursery at 6 1/2 furlongs on turf at Doncaster on Sept. 10 and the Sky Channel Nursery at a mile on the grass at Pontefract recent Sept. 24.

"I understand she's a closer, she lays back and makes one run," Mullins said.

* Robby Albarado will have the mount on Tapitsfly in the Juvenile Fillies Turf, trainer Dale Romans said. She is one of the top U.S.-based contenders following her front-running win in the $75,000 P.G. Johnson at 1 1/16 miles on turf at Saratoga.
