Slewpy's Storm wires Delicada Stakes

BOSSIER CITY, La. - Slewpy's Storm, cleverly handled by Carlos Gonzalez, led every step of the way Sunday afternoon at Harrah's Louisiana Downs in capturing the Delicada Stakes for fillies and mares. Favored Red Lifesaver loomed boldly in the second turn but had to settle for second followed by Boomboomgirl.

Trained by Brent Davidsion for Oak Haven Farm, Slewpy?s Storm ($11.80) won in stakes company for the second time this month, having also accounted for the Alan Bogan Memorial Stakes at Lone Star Park on July 9. The 4-year-old daughter of Storm Creek has now won six of her 19 starts and bankrolled over $181,000. The winning margin was 2 1/2 lengths and the time for the mile and a sixteenth was 1:44.73 over a fast track.

"This filly just keeps getting better and better" commented Davidson after the race. "We were going to lay off the early pace if we could but the way she broke, Carlos knew what to do. I was glad the way they left us alone early. Everything really worked out."
