Soto, undefeated in five career starts, drew post 4 for Saturday's Grade 2, $500,000 Super Derby.

BOSSIER CITY, La. - The match race is on. Ten Most Wanted drew the rail and Soto post No. 4 when entries for Saturday's Grade 2, $500,000 Super Derby at Louisiana Downs were taken on Wednesday.

The colts have emerged as two of the summer's most exciting 3-year-olds, and they will be well backed in a six-horse field that also drew locals Kool Humor, Zydeco Affair, Crowned King, and Taxicat.

Ten Most Wanted, who won the $1 million Travers in his last start, is expected to be a slight favorite over the undefeated Soto, who set a track record last time out in the Grade 3, $600,000 West Virginia Derby.

Post position is a minor handicapping factor in a short field at the 1 1/8-mile distance of the Super Derby, and the rail draw sat just fine with the connections of Ten Most Wanted, who comes from off the pace.

"He'll be able to save ground," said Aimee Dollase, assistant to her father, Wally Dollase.

Ten Most Wanted flew into Louisiana Downs on Tuesday morning from his Hollywood Park base, accompanied by Aimee Dollase. Wally Dollase was traveling to Louisiana Downs on Wednesday.

In his first trip over the local track, Ten Most Wanted galloped a mile on Wednesday under regular exercise rider Enrique Alferez.

"He'll gallop into the race," said Aimee Dollase. "We're really happy with how he's coming to the race so far. He shipped great and ate up last night. He has a lot of energy."

Soto is scheduled to arrive on Friday and will be ridden by Ramon Dominguez. Soto has won all five of his starts. He is based at Tapeta Farm in Maryland with trainer Michael Dickinson and is owned by Galopp LLC.

For his win in the West Virginia Derby, Soto earned a 114 Beyer Speed Figure, the highest last-race number of all starters in the Super Derby. Ten Most Wanted earned a 112 in the Travers, and those figures alone make the two standouts in the Super Derby.

The next-highest Beyer, a 95, was earned by Kool Humor for his win in the $50,000 Prelude Stakes.

The Super Derby will go as the 10th of 13 races on Saturday, with first post set at 12:15 p.m. Central. The forecast is for a few clouds, with a high of 81.

The complete field for the Super Derby, from the rail with riders, is Ten Most Wanted, Day; Taxicat, John Jacinto; Kool Humor, Kerwin Clark; Soto, Dominguez; Crowned King, Chandra Rennie; and Zydeco Affair, Gerard Melancon.
