Six-figure horses lead Tattersalls

Email

A day after producing numbers in line with last year's figures, the Tattersalls July sale in Newmarket, England, had two six-figure horses about halfway through its second session Wednesday.

Wednesday's session featured horses in training, and a Pastoral Pursuits colt was the session-leader at 3 p.m. The price was about $182,333. Named Drawing Board, the bay juvenile is the first foal for his dam, Grand Design, by Danzero. Ramzi Hassan purchased the colt from trainer Kevin Ryan's Hambleton Lodge Stables. In three starts, Drawing Board has won twice and most recently finished second, a neck behind the winner.

The second-highest price was about $158,550, for a late entry to the auction. That was Hip No. 437A, the gelding Moment of Weakness. A 2-year-old Big Bad Bob gelding, he has won twice and placed in listed company in Ireland in his most recent start. A bay son of Kristal's Dream, by Night Shift, he sold to Jamie Lloyd. Trainer Jessica Harrington's Commonstown Racing Stables consigned Moment of Weakness on behalf of Harrington's husband, John.

The four-day sale was to conclude July 9 at Park Paddocks in Newmarket.
