Sindy With an S takes Safely Kept

That's victory, with a V.

Shipping east from Southern California for trainer Mike Mitchell, Sindy With an S ran down pacesetting Ticket to Seattle and drew clear to become a graded stakes winner in Saturday's Grade 3, $200,000 Safely Kept Breeders' Cup at Laurel Park.

Change Up, making the second start of her comeback from a knee chip for trainer Steve Margolis, was third in the field of seven 3-year-old fillies, 1 3/4 lengths behind the runner-up.

Ticket to Seattle was cross-entered in Friday's Indiana Oaks at Hoosier, but trainer Steve Klesaris opted for the Maryland sprint. The filly set fractions of 21.85 seconds and 44.71 while Half Time Crown and Sindy With an S took up stalking positions, keeping Ticket to Seattle within striking range down the backstretch of the six-furlong race. When jockey Jeremy Rose set down Sindy With an S coming off the turn, she made a three-wide move and got her head in front of Ticket to Seattle in midstretch, increasing her margin to the wire under Rose's left-handed whip. Sindy With an S won by 3 1/4 lengths in 1:10.16 on a fast main track and paid $4.80 to win as the favorite.

A Broken Vow filly owned by Dream Stable LLC, Sindy With an S has never been out of the money in seven career starts, all as a 3-year-old.
