Email

Multiple Grade 3 winner Silver Medallion will begin his stud career in 2016 at Argyll Farms in St. Mary, Jamaica, after selling Tuesday at the Keeneland January horses of all ages sale.

The 8-year-old son of Badge of Silver was a $1,000 purchase by Ed Price of Pennsylvania-based Mohns Hill Farm, who brokered the deal to stand the horse in Jamaica.

Silver Medallion won 5 of 13 starts during his on-track career for earnings of $426,123, highlighted by wins in the Grade 3 El Camino Real Derby, Tropical Turf Handicap, and Ft. Lauderdale Stakes, and the listed Eddie Logan Stakes. He last raced for Black Rock Stables and trainer Todd Pletcher.

Bred in Kentucky by Brereton Jones, Silver Medallion is out of the placed Stalwart mare Another Vegetarian, whose seven winners from 10 foals to race also includes Grade 1 winner Sweet Talker. He is from the family of Grade 1 winners Sam’s Sister, Include Me Out, and Check the Label.

Blake-Albina Thoroughbred Services consigned Silver Medallion at the Keeneland January sale as agent for the dispersal of Black Rock Thoroughbreds.
