ETOBICOKE, Ontario - European invader Silver Highlight won her maiden in style at Woodbine Sunday, capturing the $252,400 , the third leg of the Canadian Triple Tiara.

With Martin Dwyer aboard, Silver Highlight had a perfect stalking trip about three lengths off the lead in the mile and a quarter grass race. Pipers Honour and See the Wind dueled through quick fractions over firm footing, before Silver Highlight moved up behind them on the far turn.

Silver Highlight hit the front around the three-sixteenths pole, and then drew off to prevail by three lengths, in a final time of 2:03.69 seconds. Invitational rallied for second, while favored See the Wind finished three lengths back in third in the 11-horse field of Canadian-bred 3-year-old fillies.

"The plan was to (sit off the speed)," said Andrew Balding, who trains Silver Highlight. "She wasn't in a hurry at any time during the race, and she just moved up nicely."

Making her first start with Lasix, Silver Highlight returned $11.70 to win. She banked $150,000 for the partnership of D.H. Caslon and C.D. Miller.
