Silver Deputy colt brings $500K

Fasig-Tipton Midlantic's Eastern fall yearling sale produced a star-quality price on Tuesday, the Timonium, Md., sale's second day, when a Silver Deputy colt brought $500,000 from agent Mark Reid.

The $500,000 colt came from the Litz Bloodstock agency's consignment and is out of Dreams of Glory, a Seattle Slew mare who is a full sister to stakes-placed Mackenzie Slew and is the dam of winner Dreamy Song, by Unbridled's Song.

As of 5 p.m. Eastern, that was the two-day auction's highest price.

Monday's opening session saw gains across the board, with 264 lots bringing a total of $5,853,000, an average of $22,170 and a $12,000 median. Gross sales for the day were up 45 percent from last year, when 235 yearlings sold. Average gained 29 percent, and median increased 50 percent. Buybacks declined to 20 percent from 24 percent last season.
