Silent Overdrive heads Refrigerator

Breeders' Cup weekend at Lone Star Park starts with a Grade 1 Quarter Horse stakes when Silent Overdrive goes for his third straight victory in the $150,000 Refrigerator Handicap for older runners on Friday afternoon.

The 440-yard Refrigerator Handicap is the sole Quarter Horse race at Lone Star this fall. Lone Star's usual autumn Quarter Horse dates were moved to Sam Houston Race Park so Lone Star could accommodate Saturday's Breeders' Cup program.

Silent Overdrive has had his races spaced out by trainer Janet VanBebber and he has responded with wins in the Grade 3 Louisiana Classic on June 13 and Grade 2 Sam Houston Classic on Sept. 4, his latest two starts.

Special Task Force is dangerous at the Refrigerator distance with a win in the Oklahoma Challenge Championship, a second-place finish in the All American Gold Cup, and a third-place effort in the New Mexico Challenge Championship in his three most recent stakes starts, all at 440 yards.
