Grade 1 winner Sidney’s Candy will remain at Haras La Pasion in Argentina to take up permanent residence and stand during the Southern Hemisphere breeding season.

The 9-year-old son of Candy Ride previously resided at WinStar Farm during the Northern Hemisphere season, where he was advertised for $10,000. He has been a regular shuttle stallion to Haras La Pasion, owned by Ricardo Benedicto, who purchased a significant interest in the horse in 2011.

Sidney’s Candy has sired two crops of racing age, with 54 winners and progeny earnings of more than $2.2 million. His top U.S. runner is Grade 3 winner Converge, while his most successful Argentine foal is Group 2 winner Pluja. His other runners of note include Grade 3-placed Sheeza Milky Way and stakes-placed Hot Dad and Potri Atoll.

Bred in Kentucky by Jenny and Sidney Craig, Sidney’s Candy is out of the placed Storm Cat mare Fair Exchange and is a full brother to Grade 3 winner Sweet Swap. He is from the family of Canadian champions Kingsbridge and Steady Growth, Grade/Group 1 winners Exchange and Blue Murder, and Dominican champion La Gran Damme.

Sidney’s Candy won seven of 17 starts during his ontrack career for earnings of $1,104,810. His notable victories include the Grade 1 Santa Anita Derby; the Grade 2 San Vicente Stakes, San Felipe Stakes, La Jolla Handicap, and Fourstardave Handicap; and the Grade 3 Sir Beaufort Stakes.
