California-based Siberian Summer, sire of Dream of Summer and a dozen other stakes winners, has died at age 22. A son of Siberian Express, Siberian Summer was euthanized July 30 after intestinal complications following surgery, The Blood-Horse online edition has reported.

Siberian Summer most recently stood at Victory Rose Thoroughbreds in Vacaville, Calif., his home since 2007, and had a $3,500 fee this year.
Bred and raced by Buckram Oak Farm in Kentucky, Siberian Summer won the 1993 Strub Stakes and five other races during a 32-start career, and earned $501,615.

Millionaire Dream of Summer is Siberian Summer’s only Grade 1 winner to date, but he also is the sire of such runners as graded winners Summer Wind Dancer and No Hesitation, graded-placed Summer Service, track record-setter Scottsbluff, and Panamanian champion Palmiche.
Siberian Summer is out of the Icecapade winner Mia Karina, who also produced the Group 3 winner Magnificent Style, by Silver Hawk.
