Shippers to test Stormy Business

Locally based Stormy Business will get a strong test when invaders from Hawthorne and Oaklawn and a past Bosselman/Gus Fonner Stakes winner from Texas ship in for the $30,000 Dowd Mile Stakes on Saturday.

The Dowd drew a field of eight and is the final prep for the $100,000 Bosselman/Gus Fonner on April 28.

Trainer Larry Donlin began fitting Stormy Business with glue-on shoes late last year, and the 5-year-old responded with a pair of wins and a strong third in the Remington Park Sprint Championship. In his seasonal debut, Stormy Business scored by four lengths in the six-furlong Tondi Stakes and earned a 99 Beyer Figure. R.D. Williams has the return mount.

Yourmoneysnogood was to arrive from Oaklawn Park on Friday for trainer Kelly Von Hemel. He is coming off three six-furlong starts against optional claiming company, including a win last time out.

George Weir brings in Holy City from Hawthorne Park in search of the horse's first win of the year. He comes off a second to Awesomewithbroads in the Honey Mark Stakes on March 24 and appears to have the versatility to contest the pace or lay just off it.

In a bit of a surprise appearance, trainer Mark Lee sends out Dusty Spike for his first start since March 2006. An 8-year-old, Dusty Spike raced just twice last year but has been posting a string of steady workouts at Remington Park since February. He was a starter in three consecutive Bosselman/Gus Fonner Stakes, winning the race in 2003.
