Shippers from both coasts clash

EmailDubit, who last raced on the East Coast, and Slew's Bet, who is in from the West Coast, will meet on neutral ground in the $55,000 Permian Basin at Zia Park.

The six-furlong race for 2-year-old fillies drew a field of six, including one other long-distance invader, the Louisiana-based Superior Storm.

Dubit last raced at Monmouth Park. She was third as the favorite in the $58,000 Colleen on July 29 following a runner-up finish in the $109,000 Astoria at Belmont Park. She could go favored.

Dubit last worked at Lone Star Park, going a half-mile in 49.80 seconds on Oct. 13. Alfredo Juarez Jr. has the mount for trainer Steve Asmussen.

Slew's Bet last raced at Bay Meadows, finishing sixth in the $64,000 Debutante after a slow start. Prior to that, she won the $40,000 Colorado Thoroughbred Breeders' Association Lassie at Arapahoe Park. Ken Tohill has the mount for trainer Jon Arnett.

Superior Storm is seeking her third straight win. She took a maiden special weight for Louisiana-breds at Louisiana Downs in August, then came right back and beat open company in a first-level allowance in September. She earned a Beyer Speed Figure of 73, the top last-race number in the field. Casey Lambert will ride for trainer Richard Jackson.
