Shemoveslikeaghost repeats in NMRC Handicap

Shemoveslikeaghost cruises to the wire an easy 5 1/4-length winner in the $130,400 New Mexico Racing Commission Handicap at Sunland Park on Saturday.

Shemoveslikeaghost picked up her fourth stakes win in her last five starts when she darted to a five and a quarter length win over Hat Creek in the $130,400 for statebred fillies and mares at Sunland on Saturday.

Scarzana finished third in the six-furlong race, a length and a half behind Hat Creek.

Shemoveslikeaghost ($4.40), who won the New Mexico Racing Commission last year, pushed fractions of 21.69 seconds for the opening quarter, and 44.50 seconds for the half-mile mark before overtaking Hat Creek in the stretch. She covered the distance in 1:09.83. Ken Tohill was aboard Shemoveslikeaghost for trainer Fred Danley.

Shemoveslikeaghost, who was returning from a more than two month layoff, earned $78,240 for the win for her owner and breeder, William Stradley. The New Mexico Racing Commission win was her 10th career victory from 18 starts and her earnings now stand at $458,191.

Shemoveslikeaghost's three stakes win leading up to this year's New Mexico Racing Commission were all in statebred stakes. She is a seven-time stakes winner and is a 4-year-old daughter of Ghostly Moves.
