Sharp form favors Caixa Eletronica in Don Bernhardt

Caixa Eletronica will turn back in distance while looking for his second win of the year in the $50,000 Don Bernhardt at Ellis Park on Saturday afternoon.

Now trained by Bob Hackworth, Caixa Eletronica comes into the 6 1/2-furlong Bernhardt off a third-place finish in the seven-furlong Kelly's Landing at Churchill Downs on June 25. Previous to the Kelly's Landing, the 5-year-old Caixa Eletronica was campaigned in Florida and trained by Sergio Suarez.

Caixa Eletronica won on March 24 at Gulfstream Park by 8 1/4 lengths in a third-level optional $80,000 claimer going a mile, and earned a lifetime high Beyer Speed Figure of 101. He then came back May 1 to run in the Sumter at Calder, finishing fourth after a horrible start. Caixa Eletronica comes into the Bernhardt off a bullet work last Sunday at Ellis. Rex Stokes III will ride for the first time.

Posse Cat could be dangerous as the lone speed under Jon Court. Trained by Jinks Fires, Posse Cat has shown speed at races shorter than seven furlongs this season. He comes into the race off a dismal performance in the Kelly's Landing.
