Sharky's Review prepped and ready

ALTOONA, Iowa - Defending champion Sharky's Review heads a field of seven Iowa-bred fillies and mares going six furlongs in Saturday's $60,000 Mamie Eisenhower Stakes at Prairie Meadows.

Sharky's Review, a multiple stakes winner of more than $416,000, finished third behind two of her Saturday rivals in a $41,000 allowance race here on opening night April 18. Sharky's Review, a 5-year-old daughter of Sharky, should benefit from that outing, her first race of the year.

Mark Bader trains Sharky's Review for owner Paul Tonderum. Luis Quinonez has a return call on Sharky's Review, who does her best running from well off the pace. She sports a career record of 9-3-5 from 21 starts.

Sound of Gold won the April 18 race in which Sharky's Gold finished third. She defeated 4-5 favorite One Fine Shweetie by a half-length while covering six furlongs in 1:10.59. Both Sound of Gold and One Fine Shweetie figure as top contenders on Saturday.

Trained by Paul Pearson, Sound of Gold has won four of her six starts this year. The 5-year-old Sound of Gold is rapidly improving, having run for a $15,000 claiming tag as recently as January. John Jacinto, who has ridden Sound of Gold in her last two victories, has a return call.

One Fine Shweetie, trained by Don Von Hemel, has finished third or better in all four of her starts this year. She has a career record of 3-2-3 from 10 starts, including a win here last May in the Bob Bryant Stakes.

Terry Thompson will ride One Fine Shweetie for the first time in the Eisenhower.
