Shananies Song scores in Juvenile Filly

Email

Shananies Song ($9.40) rallied from far back to score a 2 3/4-length victory over Cool Paradigm in the $50,000 Finger Lakes Juvenile Filly Stakes.

Ridden by local jockey Paul Nicol Jr. for Philadelphia Park-based trainer Ned Allard, Shananies Song was fifth, trailing by six lengths, with a quarter-mile remaining in the six-furlong race. She came five wide into the stretch and flew past Cool Paradigm inside the eighth pole to win for the second time in three career outings. The winning time was 1:10.88.

Cool Paradigm, who looked like a winner when she gained a one-length lead with just a furlong remaining, easily held second. Mudder in Law, bet down to 2-1 favoritism off a dominant win over maiden claimers at Monmouth Park, finished 2 3/4 lengths farther back in third.

A Florida-bred daughter of Eltish, Shananies Song had convincingly won her maiden at Philadelphia Park and rallied to finish second against first-level allowance sprinters three weeks ago at Delaware Park.
