Shampoo flies through the stretch

AUBURN, Wash. - Shampoo ($9.40) chased the hot pace of California invader On Duty into the stretch, then moved to take command with a furlong remaining and powered away to a 4 1/2-length victory in Saturday's $45,000 U.S. Bank Stakes for 3-year-old fillies at Emerald Downs. On Duty held on for second, 4 1/4 lengths ahead of Wings of Justice in the field of nine.

Shampoo, a homebred daughter of Gulch who races for Jerre Paxton's Northwest Farms, covered six furlongs in 1:08.40 under rider Kevin Radke. Doris Harwood trains Shampoo, who has now won 2 of 5 starts and $42,500.

Shampoo's dam, Taste the Passion, was also a stakes winner at Emerald Downs. Shampoo's victory makes Taste the Passion the first Emerald stakes winner to produce a stakes winner at the 12-year-old track.
