Shadowbdancing rolls in Bosselman/Gus Fonner

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. - Shadowbdancing relaxed just off the pace and wore down a stubborn Reach One More to draw off for a 4 1/4-length victory in Saturday's $77,250 Bosselman/Gus Fonner Stakes before a full house at Fonner Park.

In a race that appeared to have an abundance of early speed that included 1-2 favorite Shadowbdancing, the scenario changed early as Roaring Home went through the first of three turns on a short lead before being joined by Reach One More into the second turn. Shadowbdancing, ridden patiently by Eddie Razo Jr., ranged up outside the leaders with three furlongs left. Reach One More continued with the winner to upper stretch but proved no match in the final furlong as Razo lightly roused his mount to draw off late.

Shadowbdancing collected his second straight stakes win this year for trainer Terrel Gore, covering the 1 1/16 miles over a fast track in 1:46.20. He returned $3 as the heavy favorite in a field of seven and combined with Reach One More for a 3-7 exacta worth $11.80. The win was worth $45,000 and boosted Shadowbdancing's career bankroll to over $430,000 from a mark of 9-4-3 from 22 starts.

Reach One More became the first Nebraska-bred in recent memory to place in the meet's showcase event as he held second, 2 1/4 lengths in front of No Walkin' Joe in third.
