Shadowbdancing heading to W.Va.

Fresh off his win in the Cornhusker Handicap on Saturday night at Prairie Meadows, Shadowbdancing has returned to his home base at Arlington Park. Shadowbdancing stables here and trains here, but the horse apparently cannot show his best on Arlington's synthetic racing surface, and so will be pointed for another out-of-town start by trainer Terrel Gore.

Gore reported that Shadowbdancing had come out of the biggest win of his career in good physical condition, and that he was being pointed to the West Virginia Governor's Stakes, a race Shadowbdancing won last summer, on Aug. 7 at Mountaineer Racetrack.

"It's perfect timing, and we know he loves that track," said Gore, who trains Shadowbdancing for Bob and Nancy Bartels. "It makes sense for us. My M.O. is not to go hunt down Blame just because we won [the Cornhusker]. I'm going to spot him as easily as I can."

Gore said he believes Shadowbdancing delivered "his best race ever" on Saturday night, but Beyer Speed Figure makers would quibble with that assessment. The horse got a 106 Beyer finishing second in the 2009 Cornhusker, and just a 94 for his win last weekend.
