Shadow Cast (5), Robby Albarado up, wins the $60,000 Truly Bound Handicap Saturday at Fair Grounds Race Course. The win was Shadow Cast's third stakes victory at Fair Grounds.

Shadow Cast, under Robby Albarado, wore down Family Business on Saturday to win the $60,000 Truly Bound Handicap at Fair Grounds.

Albarado waited patiently with Shadow Cast toward the back of the six-horse field in the early stages of the 1 1/16-mile race for fillies and mares.

Jockey Tracy Hebert sent Miss Confusion out to the lead, and was pressed by favored Storm's Darling. The top two ran the quarter in 23.72 seconds and the half in 47.27 with the others content to sail along behind.

Family Business made a three-wide move to the lead on the turn, running six furlongs in 1:12.09, and had a length lead after a mile in 1:37.50. But Shadow Cast wore her down in the final furlong to win by a half-length, covering the 1 1/16 miles in 1:44.09.

Family Business finished 10 lengths ahead of Miss Confusion, who outfinished Storm's Darling by a half-length.

Shadow Cast, trained by Neil Howard, returned $5.20 as the second choice in the wagering.
