Seriously Silver scores upset in Gaylord Memorial

A week after winning three stakes on a single card at Remington Park, owner-trainer C.R. Trout took down another big race at the meet when Seriously Silver rallied for a half-length win over 1-5 favorite Bling It On Baby in Friday night’s $50,000 E.L. Gaylord Memorial.

Trout had a stakes triple at Remington on Oct. 17, when his homebreds Imahit, Shotgun Kowboy, and Bringinginthelute won on the Oklahoma Classics program.

Seriously Silver ($20.20) was making her stakes debut in the Gaylord, a 6 1/2-furlong race for 2-year-old fillies. She stalked the pace in third as Bling It On Baby set fractions of 22.67 seconds for the opening quarter and 45.49 for the half-mile. Seriously Silver worked her way past the leader and Beau’s Angel in the stretch to cover the distance on a fast track in 1:17.19.

“We had a perfect trip,” said winning rider Alex Birzer.

Seriously Silver came into the Gaylord off a maiden special weight win at Remington on Oct. 2. In her only other start, she was second to Bling It On Baby in another maiden special weight at the track. Seriously Silver is a daughter of Zensational and was bred in Kentucky by Turner Breeders.
