'Serendipity' and Walcott tough team

EDMONTON, Alberta - Leading rider Rickey Walcott will attempt to make it two wins in a row with Serendipity Style in Friday's feature for $22,000 filly-mare claimers at Northlands Park.

Serendipity Style, owned by Bar None Ranches, will be seeking her fourth win of the year in the 6 1/2-furlong race. In the spring meet at Stampede Park, Serendipity Style defeated $25,000 maidens and won right back in an allowance, both at six furlongs.

Trainer Floyd Arthur will send out Executive Time, who has the inside post in the field of eight with Real Simard in the saddle. Executive Time won at Friday's distance in early July against the $30,000 kind, but has disappointed since then in two outings at a mile.

Also dropping from the $30,000 level is Madlyn Elise, who won twice at Stampede Park against cheaper and will have Stephan Heiler aboard.

This Cat Can returns to the level at which she won in Calgary and was nipped in a photo here. Since then, This Cat Can won against $30,000 claimers.

Galaxy Belle is coming off two strong efforts, winning by a neck at 8-1 and getting edged as the 3-2 favorite.

We Danced Anyway will be making her second start of the year after finishing fifth for $30,000.

- Last weekend's Canadian Thoroughbred Horse Society summer sale saw 129 yearlings sold for an average of $8,593, up slightly from $8,401 a year ago.
