Senor Ladd best in New England

Senor Ladd was named winner of the 2004 James B. Moseley Horse of the Year Award by the New England Turf Writers Association at its 63rd annual awards dinner on Thursday night.

Senor Ladd, now 4, is owned by Joseph Laliberte, who races as Carlee Thoroughbreds LLC. He was trained by John Rigattieri, and was ridden in all 10 of his starts last year by Dyn Panell. Senor Ladd won five races last year and put together a four-race winning streak that lasted from April to July. His victories included an allowance race at Pimlico and three stakes at Suffolk Downs: the African Prince for Massachusetts-breds, the open Rudy Baez Stakes, and the open Topsider against older rivals.

Senor Ladd is turned out with a sesamoid injury, according to Laliberte.
