Selvatica all the way in Desert Stormer

Selvatica dominated six rivals in Saturday's $99,275 Desert Stormer Handicap at Hollywood Park, scoring her fourth stakes win in the last year. The victory was her first since being purchased for $560,000 by Marsha Naify at the Barretts January mixed sale.

Ridden by David Flores, Selvatica ($2.80) led throughout the Desert Stormer, running six furlongs in 1:09.58. She set early fractions of 22.24 and 44.86 seconds and was never threatened, finishing two lengths in front of Bully Bones. Nossa Cancao finished third, rallying from sixth on the turn.

Selvatica, trained by Julio Canani, has won 7 of 12 starts and $288,505. Last fall, she won three consecutive stakes. The Desert Stormer was Selvatica's second win in open company, preceded by the Bangles and Beads Stakes at Fairplex Park last September.

The Desert Stormer was her first start since finishing second in the Grade 3 Las Flores Handicap at Santa Anita in February.
